Education

A decade of building math education programs. Now rebuilding one from the ground up.

10 Years in the Classroom (and Behind It)

Before I was optimizing billing systems or consolidating enterprise platforms, I was running an education business. For ten years, I operated an Aloha Mind Math franchise — teaching mental math to children using abacus-based methodology. Not as an investor. Not as an advisor. As the operator.

That means I know what it takes to acquire students (and convince their parents). I know how to hire, train, and retain instructors. I know the difference between a curriculum that looks good on paper and one that actually produces results in a 7-year-old's brain. I understand franchise compliance, territory management, class scheduling, assessment design, and the very particular challenge of running a business where your customers are children and your buyers are their parents.

Ten years of that gives you a kind of operational knowledge that no certification or course can replicate.

Why Mental Math Matters

Mental math isn't about doing arithmetic faster — it's about building a fundamentally different relationship with numbers. Children who develop strong mental math skills show improvements in concentration, working memory, pattern recognition, and mathematical confidence that extend far beyond calculation speed.

The abacus-based approach I've worked with for over a decade trains children to visualize numbers spatially, building neural pathways that support mathematical thinking across every discipline they'll encounter. It's not a shortcut — it's a foundation.

MathKoach

MathKoach is the next chapter. After a decade of operating within a franchise system — learning what works, what doesn't, and what could be better — I founded MathKoach to build something from scratch. No franchise constraints. No inherited curriculum limitations. Just the accumulated knowledge of ten years of watching kids learn (and struggle with) math, applied to a product designed for how education actually works today.

MathKoach is currently in active relaunch. We're rebuilding the platform, refining the curriculum, and defining the delivery model that will make high-quality mental math education accessible to students regardless of where they live or what their parents can afford.

Operations are led by my brother, with strategic direction and product development driven by me. We're combining deep education domain expertise with the systems-building approach I apply to everything — because scaling an education platform requires the same operational discipline as scaling a medical practice or rolling out an enterprise system.

What's Coming

  • Rebuilt curriculum drawing on a decade of in-classroom observation of what actually drives student outcomes
  • Scalable delivery model designed for accessibility — not limited to in-person franchise locations
  • Assessment framework that measures real mathematical thinking, not just speed
  • Instructor training system built from operational experience managing teaching staff for ten years

Education Expertise

Beyond MathKoach, my education background spans curriculum design, student acquisition and retention, instructor hiring and development, franchise operations, and the business side of running education programs at scale. If you're building or scaling an education venture — whether it's a tutoring business, an ed-tech product, or a training program — I've been where you are.
